James Herriot lived and worked in the market town of Thirsk for 49 years and it was from this quiet corner of North Yorkshire that he drew inspiration for his tales of veterinary life.

Thirsk, the Darrowby of James Herriot’s books is now home to a unique tribute to the vet and author. The World of James Herriot is based in the original home and surgery of the vet and combines history, nostalgia and science in this award winning attraction.
